James Madison Seniors
The JMHS PTSA cordially invites you and your family to attend a very special event to honor the significance of your graduation from high school.
The 2019 JMHS Baccalaureate
Thursday, June 6th at 6:00 pm
Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park Street, NE, Vienna, Virginia
The Baccalaureate Service is a long-standing tradition to bring the Senior Class together on the eve of Graduation to reflect and rejoice.
The theme of this year’s Baccalaureate is “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
As our graduates move from high school to college or employment, they will increasingly meet many diverse people. Their faith provides the foundation to find the sacredness God has instilled in virtually every human being. Their new environment will afford the opportunity to honor that divine sacredness by interacting and engaging with people of different religious, racial, ethnic, or social backgrounds. Bridging with those of other faiths and groups demonstrates their loyalty to God, deepens their understanding of their own faith tradition, and better equips them to find their vocation in the service of God.
Leaders from several faith traditions will join student speakers
in an interfaith service of contemplation, thanksgiving, and celebration.
Seniors arrive at 5:30PM and gather in the Great Hall. Please wear your Graduation gown, but not the cap. The Madrigals and the Strings Ensemble performances add to the beauty and celebratory spirit of the event.
All family members are encouraged to attend.
Light reception in the Great Hall follows the service.
Event sponsored by the JMHS PTSA. Attendance is voluntary.
