Congratulations to Award Winners

Triple I Award: In 2002 a JMHS parent, Maria Coyle, developed a teacher recognition award call the Triple I Award. Triple I stands for Innovate-Instruct-Impact and the awards are intended to acknowledge the teachers who have been exceptional educators in the eye of their peers, their students and their students’ parents. A record number of nominations from parents, students, teachers, and administrators were accepted and reviewed for this year’s awards. Because a teacher may not receive the award in consecutive years, many worthy nominees were ineligible this year, but will be eligible next year. The PTSA is excited to announce the 2021 recipients as:
  • Tonia Anderson
  • Julia Bargo
  • Miguel Fernandez
  • Maya Gueron
  • Scott Hazen
  • Tracey Jolley
  • Elizabeth Miner
  • Katie Newman
  • Claire Rowan
  • Razieh Vafaei
Above and Beyond Award: A new award the PTSA provided to staff who went “above and beyond” to help make the 2020-21 school year as successful as possible. These 2 recipients provided hours and hours of extra work to help students and teachers create academic and social opportunities in a safe manner.
  • Tim Buckley
  • Kurt Kohls
Make A Difference Scholarship: Each year, the PTSA awards scholarships to seniors who exemplify the qualities of service within the school and community.  Each recipient receives a $1,000 scholarship for “making a difference” (e.g., involvement at school, volunteer work, community service, paid work such as babysitting, helping their family, or other ways of enriching the lives of others).  This year the PTSA received many applications and the selection process was difficult. The PTSA is proud to announce that 6 recipients will receive the award for their service to their community and school. They are:
  • Arya Nalavade
  • Braden Holt
  • Gwen Setia
  • Susan Weinhardt
  • Lacey Rousseau
  • Mai Ishikawa
