MAD Drama News

Madison Drama has announced the 2019 Fall Play; JMHS will be performing Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” November 14, 15 & 16. Auditions are after school September 4th & 5th and are open to all JMHS students, not just those currently enrolled in drama classes. For further information, check out the MadDrama website (www.madisondrama.com) or contact Mr. Henderson.  And looking further down the road, the Spring Musical is “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”. Performances will be April 30, May 1 & 2, 2020. Stay tuned for more details.

Mad Drama also offers a wide variety of off-stage opportunities for students to participate in creating the productions including working on costumes, makeup, publicity, set construction and painting. Any students interested in becoming part of the production crew may contact Mr. Henderson for details.

For parents of students participating in any aspects of JMHS Drama, you are invited to attend the first MadDrama Parent Meeting of the year, 7:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, September 3rd in the Black Box Theater (just inside Door 11). This meeting provides an opportunity to learn about the many facets of putting together the various productions over the course of the school year and how parents can help support their children and MadDrama. The entertaining and dramatic performances you see on the Madison stage are the result of lots of student effort and talent complemented by not insignificant amounts of parental emotional & financial support as well as time, snacks, elbow grease, donated props and trips to Home Depot. Please stop by to learn what it’s all about.

Lastly, MadDrama invites all JMHS parents to support the JMHS theater department by becoming a Patron. Parents may choose from several levels of financial contribution (via MySchoolBucks) and receive VIP tickets to the Fall Play and Spring Musical. MadDrama is entirely self funded so Patron contributions help defray the initial costs of production including paying for rights, renting costumes and purchasing materials to construct the sets. Check out the MadDrama website for more details.
