2024 Baccalaureate Inter-Faith Celebration

The Baccalaureate Committee of James Madison High School would like to invite faith leaders and the Class of 2024 students to speak at this year’s inter-faith service. The Baccalaureate Service will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 6:00 pm at Vienna Presbyterian Church.

Musical selections, both voice and orchestral, are traditionally part of the Baccalaureate Service, as well as student speakers and faith leaders. It is a time of reflection for our seniors and their families on the eve of graduation.

We have chosen the following quote from the 2017 National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman, as the theme of this year’s Baccalaureate:

“We are the good news that we have been looking for,
Demonstrating that every dusk holds a dawn disguised within it.
Today we don’t burst into a new world.
We begin it.”

As our graduates move forward into the wider world, they will come in contact with a greater range of individuals from various cultures, races, ethnicities and backgrounds. Their faith traditions provide the context and foundation for them to practice tolerance, equity and kindness.

If you are interested in participating or would like to provide a recommendation for a speaker, please email Beth Eachus.
